Important Notice to Members

Hello, Beverly Heights Community League!

The BHCL has had a busy year adding new programs, continuing with social events and activities, and engaging league members with eNewsletters and social media posts. A lot has gone on behind the scenes as well and we are excited to share both our successes and plans for the upcoming year at our Annual General Meeting. Please invite your neighbour and join us Sunday April 12, 2026 at 3pm at the Beverly Heights Hall, 4209 111 Avenue. Refreshments and a sweet snack will be provided. Stay a while after the meeting to socialize with other league members.

This AGM is important to attend - we will have a Special Resolution to amend our 2011 bylaws with an updated version that our volunteer directors have been working to complete all winter. For a Special Resolution to pass, 75% of voting members in attendance must vote in favour of the resolution. Please review the new bylaws (and the old) before the meeting. You can find them by click the buttons below:

The Special Resolution motion is: "Be it resolved that the existing bylaws dated April 18, 20211 are repealed and the amended bylaws of Beverly Heights Community League dated April 12, 2026 are approved".

A 2025-2026 Membership is required to vote on any motions or elections. We ask that everyone check in with our Membership Director at the door where you can confirm your current membership or purchase one with cash or debit. Voting members must reside within the league boundaries - south of 118 Avenue, east of 50th Street, and north of the river (in Beverly Heights or Rundle Heights communities). You can also purchase a membership ahead of time. See membership@beverlyheights.ca for details.

The 2026 AGM agenda, minutes from the 2025 AGM, and the 2024-2025 Year-End Financial Report are linked below. Please take the time to review! Limited paper copies of the agenda as well as information about each of the Director positions will be available at the AGM.

You can make a difference to your community by joining the league board! This year we have quite a few Director positions that are becoming available for election. This year, the President and Treasurer are at term and neither incumbent is standing for re-election. The Secretary position will be available for a 1yr term due to resignation, and the Vice President was appointed mid-term and that appointment will need to be ratified. We can combine the Secretary and Treasurer position if you would like to do both!

The Civic Affairs, Social, and Sports Directors were also appointed mid-term and their appointment will need to be ratified. The Communications, Fundraising, Green Spaces, Maintenance, and Programs Director positions are at term. Some of the incumbents may be willing to stand for re-election, but anyone is welcome to be nominated or self-nominate if you'd like any role! The Variety Show Chair will be elected for a 1-yr term due to a vacancy.

If you are interested in joining the board or have questions, please reach out to me at president@beverlyheights.ca to set up a time to chat.

I look forward to seeing you at the Annual General Meeting Sunday April 12 at 3pm!

Tracey Hirtle
