Planning an Outdoor Event on City Land this Summer?

Neighbourhood Services provides support to citizens, community groups and event organizers who are coordinating activities on City parkland including district parks, neighbourhood parks, and smaller green spaces within the community.

Events on City parkland and roadways may require a licence and insurance to proceed so start planning early, at least 4-6 weeks in advance. Larger events should apply at least 8 weeks in advance as approvals are often required from other City departments or external regulators. Please check with your Neighbourhood Resource Coordinator (NRC) to confirm any timelines and ensure your event has the required permits and insurance in place!

The City of Edmonton has an Application Form Selection Tool that is designed to display the appropriate application form information based on your location choice. It can be found on the Festivals and Events Planning page at edmonton.ca

Neighbourhood Services provides two types of event licences:

For Neighbourhood Events - If the event is happening in a neighbourhood park, district park or community green space please complete a Neighbourhood Event Application.

For questions, please reach out to your NRC (call 311 if you are unsure who the NRC is for your neighbourhood).

For Residential Block Parties and Play Streets, If you want to close a residential street for the purposes of a neighbourhood block party or play street, please complete a Block Party/Play Street Application.

Contact blockpartyplaystreet@edmonton.ca if you have any questions.

Civic Events provides licences for

Festivals and Larger Events - If your event is happening in a City-level park, in the River Valley or a roadway, please complete a Civic Event Application.

For questions, please email civic.events@edmonton.ca.
